Katrina Robinson Lee, RN BSN
Founder and Executive Director
The Healthcare Institute LLC
Katrina Robinson Lee is Founder and Executive Director of The Healthcare Institute LLC – Memphis’ leading postsecondary healthcare vocational school and training consulting company. Katrina is a native Memphian and graduate of Whitehaven High School. Katrina holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing Management from the University of Memphis as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Union University. She has enjoyed a lucrative career in business sales and marketing positions for FedEx, Konica Minolta, and ATT (formerly Bellsouth), also serving as Director of Government Strategic Account Sales for AmeriGas. Though sales and marketing is undoubtedly her talent, her passion has always been people and medicine, leading to her pursuit of a career in Nursing.
In her time as a registered nurse for Methodist Healthcare, Katrina developed a keen interest in clinical education and identified the need for more educational resources for individuals interested in pursuing healthcare careers. She discovered that there were a number of individuals interested in educational programs in healthcare but often lacked the resources or funding. From this, her vision for The Healthcare Institute was born. With no formal training or education in grant writing, Katrina wrote her own grant proposal and successfully secured a $1.6M grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This funding is used to provide scholarships for people looking for a jumpstart to their education and also to provide community patient education to the elderly. In addition to education, Katrina is a noted advocate for children. She founded The Sweet Jar Foundation – a nonprofit organization committed
to ending child sexual abuse and molestation. Sweet Jar provides resources for survivors of molestation as well as a platform for reformation of laws governing prosecution of offenders.
Katrina is deeply rooted in a number of community service initiatives with Shelby County Schools. She is a member of the Shelby County Schools Career and Technical Education Strategic Plan Design Board. She is also a member of the Tennessee State Senator Military Academy Nomination Board. She is an active Leadership Memphis Executive (Spring 2017). Katrina has been recognized as 2016 Top 10 Memphian (Chamber of Commerce), 2016 Woman of Excellence (TSD), Propel Program Graduate (City of Memphis Office of Business Diversity), Ascend Program Appointee (Chamber Chairman’s Circle).
